What can it show?

Santa, trees, snowmen, falling snow, hearts, scrolling names and messages, your own drawing, even a photo turned into dots.

What it really looks like

You've seen the videos. Here is the honest version.

Most ads for these lights show a sharp, full picture across a whole balcony. A curtain of 400 LEDs can't do that, and neither can ours. What it does do: bright, chunky, moving pictures made of separate points of light that read clearly from the street. Every design on this page is drawn dot for dot at the real 20 x 20 size, so you know exactly what you are getting.

Each dot is one LED. 20 across, 20 down, like the real curtain.

Try it before you buy

Pick a picture, or type a name and watch it scroll the way it will on your railing.

Why apartment Christmas is hard

The house with the yard gets the big display. You get a railing.

No yard

Inflatables and lawn reindeer need ground. About 1 in 3 US households rent1, and most of them have a balcony or a window, not a lawn.

No drilling

Leases and building rules usually say no nails, no screws, nothing permanent on the outside.

Same as every balcony

A string of lights looks like every other balcony on the block. From the street nobody can tell yours apart.

Projectors fade

A projector needs a blank wall and washes out under street lights and a neighbor's porch lamp.

How it works

Three steps. No ladder, no drill.

Hands tying the curtain to a balcony railing with cable ties1

Tie it on

Hooks or cable ties hold the top cable to the railing, a curtain rod or a fence. Nothing goes into the wall.

The curtain lighting up: Santa, a tree, a snowman and a snowflake2

Plug it in

It runs on USB: a phone charger in an outlet, or a power bank. Outside, use an outdoor-rated extension cord.

Pick a picture

Open the free app, choose a design or type your words, or press the remote. Set the timer and it switches itself off.

Where it goes

Railing, window or wall. Anywhere the street can see it.

Who it's not for

Be honest with yourself before you buy.

  • You want a sharp, photo-like picture. This shows pixel art made of 400 dots, on both sizes.
  • You need it for Christmas and it is after December 8. We close orders then, because we won't promise a date we can't keep.
  • There is no outlet near your balcony or window and you don't want to keep recharging a USB power bank.

Use it safely

Three simple rules.

  • Outdoor-rated cordsOutside, use only an extension cord rated for outdoor use.
  • Don't overload outletsNever overload electrical outlets.2
  • Turn it off when you're outSet the timer in the app, or switch it off with the remote when you go to bed or leave home.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How long does delivery take?

Free tracked shipping to the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the EU. Orders ship within 3 business days and arrive 7 to 12 days later. Order by December 8 to have it before Christmas: an order placed that day arrives by December 23. You get a tracking link by email.

Does it look like the videos I've seen online?

Not like the ones that show a sharp picture across a whole balcony; 400 LEDs can't do that. It looks like the pictures on this page: bright, moving pixel art made of separate dots, drawn at the real size.

Which size should I pick?

Two sizes: 2 x 2 m (6.5 x 6.5 ft) and 3 x 3 m (9.8 x 9.8 ft). Both have 400 LEDs, 20 strands of 20. On the 2 m one the dots sit about 10 cm apart, on the 3 m one about 15 cm. Up to 2.5 m of railing, pick 2 x 2 m; up to 3.5 m, pick 3 x 3 m; wider than that, take two.

Is it waterproof? Can it stay outside?

Yes. It is waterproof, rated IP65, so rain and snow are fine and it can stay on the railing all season. If you need an extension cord outside, use one rated for outdoor use.

Do I need to drill anything?

No. The top cable hangs on the hooks in the box or ties onto the railing with a few cable ties. Indoors it hangs from a curtain rod.

How is it powered?

By USB (5 V). Plug it into a USB wall charger, like the one for your phone, or into a power bank. The charger is not in the box; most people already have one.

How do I change the picture?

With the free app for iPhone and Android, which connects over Bluetooth, or with the remote in the box (its small battery is not included). Stay within a few meters of the curtain when you change it with your phone.

Can I write my own words?

Yes. Type a name or a message in the app and it scrolls across the curtain. You can also draw your own picture dot by dot, or turn a photo from your phone into dots.

Can it move to music or switch off by itself?

Yes to both. In music mode the lights jump to songs on your phone or to what your phone's microphone hears. The timer in the app switches it on and off at the times you set.

Can I use two curtains together?

Yes. Link them in the app and they play in sync or run one effect across all of them. Or give each its own picture: Santa on the left, the tree on the right.

What if it arrives damaged or doesn't light up?

Send us a photo or a short video and we send a replacement free. You don't pay for a faulty curtain.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days if it is unused and in the original box. See the refund policy for the steps.

Is it only for Christmas?

No. Hearts for Valentine's Day, a birthday name, a pumpkin for Halloween, team colors on match night.
